The slow train

A lot of people have been very rude about First Great Western in the press recently, describing it as slow, inefficient, poorly managed, etc etc. I cannot comment on very much, but I can confirm that it is very slow. I am currently sitting on a train from Swansea to London, just outside Reading, where we are running thirty minutes late, having stopped for a long time to enjoy views of Didcot in the dark.

And if the man in the buffet car tells me once more where he’s situated, or what an interesting range of hot food, cold drinks and light refreshments he has to offer, I might just have to go and… Oh well, I guess I should be happy that the buffet’s open.
