I spent yesterday evening in the company of about fifty of The Scout Association’s young national and county representatives, during their annual conference at Warwick University. They were very kind, listening to a few of my stories, laughing at my jokes and reacting politely to my various challenges to them to transform the Movement.

After my speech, we moved on to a quiz, superbly organised by Scout Association staff and based on various TV quiz shows. What did I do on Saturday night then? I pretended to be a human volcano (something to do with Duncan dares) and helped to form the walls of a dome (Crystal Maze rather than Millennium).

I have promised a number of delegates that I’ll upload the text of the story I told about the little boy learning to paint. As soon as I’ve done so I’ll put a link to it from my ‘speeches’ page.
