I am currently on my way to the World Scout Conference, being held in Jeju, South Korea and have stopped off in Shanghai for the day. What an amazing city – full of unfamiliar smells and tastes; though the main shopping street, Nanjing Road, feels surprisingly familiar. This could have something to do with the proliferation of Western brands. I managed to avoid Starbucks, KFC and the golden arches, choosing to eat street food instead.
I have just got back to my hotel, the Astor House, after spending the evening at an amazing acrobatics show. Absolutely brilliant.
Tomorrow, it’s back to the airport, via the 400 kmh maglev. The fastest I have ever travelled on land. Not a bad way to start a holiday.
